Jan Brueghel, 1568 - 1625, was a 17th century Belgium painter. He was the son of Pieter Brueghel. His son Jan the Younger (1601 -1678) was also a painter.

The exhibition explores the relashionships between artists and animals, from Brueghel to Jeff Koons, and includes Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Degas

The main focus is the painting of the seventeenth century, in particular the Dutch and Flemish Baroque, an era known as the Golden Age.

Featuring more than 100 works, the exhibition Rome: Nature and the Ideal. Landscapes 1600-1650 is exhibited at the Museo del Prado.

The private Hohenbuchau Collection, comprising around 100 masterpieces of Dutch, Flemish, German, Italian and Spanish paintings.

The Mauritshuis, from 24 April 2012, around 70 highlights from the collection will go on display at the Gemeentemuseum for about 2 years renovation.
