The Museum will be presenting this monographic exhibition devoted to Jean Siméon Chardin (1699-1779), one of the most important figures in French 18th-century painting. Chardin has never been the subject of an exhibition in Spain and is only represented in that country by three works (all in the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza). This great master of still-life and genre painting (scenes of interiors, family life and children), renowned for his intensely poetic vision of objects and his remarkable pictorial virtuosity, is now represented by 56 works in an exhibition that will be shown in Madrid from 28 February to 28 May 2011, following its display at the Palazzo dei Diamante in Ferrara.
