The collection currently comprises around 7,600 paintings, 1,000 sculptures, 2,400 prints and 6,300 drawings, in addition to a large number of works of art and historic documents.
The Museo del Prado has the largest and most important collection of Spanish painting in the world, numbering more than 4,600 paintings and dating from the Romanesque period to the 19th century. This internationally-renowned collection includes masterpieces by artists such as Bartolomé Bermejo, Pedro Berruguete, Sánchez Coello, El Greco, Ribera, Zurbarán, Murillo, Alonso Cano, Velázquez, Goya, Vicente López, Fortuny, Carlos de Haes, the Madrazo, Rosales and Sorolla.

The exhibition opens with the oldest drawings by 16th-century Spanish artists working in Castile, including Alonso Berruguete.

The exhibition Hidden Beauty will offer an historical-artistic survey of the Museo del Prado’s collections through more than 250 paintings.
